Marketing/Communications Director

Join the Las Vegas Natural History Museum team as our Marketing/Communications Director! We're seeking a dynamic and articulate marketing/communications professional to drive our growth and engagement efforts. As a 501(c)3 organization, we're committed to fostering community connections and enriching lives through education and exploration.


About Us: At the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, we're dedicated to providing captivating educational experiences for all ages. From our engaging exhibits to our interactive programs, we strive to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.

Role Overview: As our Marketing/Communications Director, you'll be at the forefront of our marketing and communications initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing scalable strategies to drive growth, manage our brand, foster media relations, and enhance our overall communication efforts. Additionally, you'll play a key role in donor prospecting and cultivation, strengthening relationships with current supporters, and ensuring brand consistency across all channels.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role or self-employment (no students, please).

  • BA in communication, public relations, marketing, advertising, or a related field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and integrity.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, Tik Tok, etc.).

  • Experience in community event planning and promotion.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.

  • Knowledge of brand consistency and support strategies.

  • Experience with earned media such as television interviews and podcast appearances.

  • Non-profit, website management, Canva, and Salesforce experience is a plus.


Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with our strategic objectives.

  • Maintain the museum’s website with correct functionality and information.

  • Manage brand identity, media relations, and all communication channels.

  • Secure media placements to enhance the Museum's visibility and reputation.

  • Collaborate with PR agencies to execute campaigns effectively.

  • Maintain relationships with key media representatives.

  • Oversee content creation for various platforms, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

  • Drive member engagement initiatives.

  • Supervise and train interns, delegating tasks as needed.

  • Cultivate relationships with community members and stakeholders.

  • Manage vendors for visual content production.

  • Research and execute effective media buys.

  • Track marketing performance metrics.

  • Support sponsorship efforts for fundraising events.

  • Develop and manage marketing budgets.

  • Network with elected officials and community stakeholders.
