Saturday, April 16th at 10:30am -2pm

 “Hula -The Beauty of the Hawaiian Dance”

Come celebrate the art of Hawaiian dance called the HULA, and experience it’s beauty, grace and history.

SESSION I:

TIME: 10:30AM - 12:00 Noon

(Keiki/Child based program recommended for ages 5 yrs of age - 12 yrs of age but all are welcome).

Learn a hula noho/sit down hula entitled “Ke Ao Nani - A Beautuful World”. Learn simple hand gestures ONLY for this hula which allows a beginner student to learn a novice hula that many young students who first begin their hula journey are introduced. This hula is taught in a sitting position. Students experience a brief history and introduction of the Hawaiian art of dance and learn simple Hawaiian words introduced in the dance.

Also included during the hula session is the making of a simple Hawaiian Style Craft to take away.

SESSION II:

TIME 12:30 PM - 2PM

(ʻŌpio/Teen, Makua/Adult and Kupuna/Senior based program recommended for ages 13+)

Learn a simple hapa haole hula (hula to English words) entitled “Hawaiian Lullaby”. Simple hand gestures and foot movement is included during instruction. Students experience a brief history and introduction of the Hawaiian art of dance.

Also included during the hula session is the making of a simple Hawaiian Style Craft to take away.
